Something 'Magical' happens when...

Ok, I know I don't believe in the 'softness' of some of the self-examination my Sister Janet so enjoys... (see many discussions on Tolle...) - and I like to live my life by the motto...

"An examined life isn't worth living"

But there is this little 'magical' moment in my life that I thought I'd document and share in the blog this week.

This little moment happens at a weird unexpected time for me. I use my computers daily. Our house has over 10 laptops in it right now, and the work office has well over 100 I could work on. But with all of those, there is only one that is *mine*. This "mineness" is a very quirky thing. It's like a little 'gwang' thing happens. (Gwang is the Chinese word as well as the sound a light makes when turning on)

This week I was working on a new laptop - a MacBookAir - loading a variety of software applications, configuring it for network and printing access, and then using a Virtual Machine software called Parallels - I also loaded Microsoft Office for XP on the device.

In the process of 'playing' with the comptuer... *GWANG*... and the MacBookAir (hereto know by MBA) just became *MY* comptuer. I actually didn't want it to happen - this wasn't supposed to be my main machine, I wasn't prepared... I hadn't even moved over my files and Outlook indexes... but it happened anyway.

This was just supposed to be my comptuer that McKinley could call up her 'Papa' to have a video conversation with...

So I tried to deny it for a couple of days... but I just 'lost that loving feeling' and the old 'my' comptuer a Dell D430 just didn't 'feel' right any more... it was just another piece of hardware that was holding scads of my data... without being 'mine'.

Sad... weird... pathetic... perhaps all of the above, but I can't change my Computer Karma any more than I can deny my Parking Karma... ;-) My 'karma' moved without my permission and now I'm going to have to find a way to make it work.

Here are some photos of 'my' new computer.
This thing wakes up in under 1 second...
ready on the net in under 3 seconds ready to work! Sweet. The 'multi-touch' keypad works like the iPhone -
but also has 'scrolling' by just holding two fingers,
right-clicking with two fingers, swipping pages, zoom, move , etc.
Thin is in!

So there you go all you Skeptics who didn't think I had a 'soft' introspective side.

That is really pathetic Keith. Really now! I didn't know I was going to spend my life with a real techno nerd. Just kidding. I just think it is funny that you have a soft side for a computer.

Very interesting post Keith. Glad that you have us caught up on your blog. I have missed reading it. Another new computer. When will it ever end?! Glad life is being good to you and your family. I like the "main thing" sign.

I am happy your new computer claimed you, even though you didn't plan it that way. It looks like a cool machine. (just a little envious - I know I don't need another, but it is so fun to watch you have such a good time with new technology.)

I have to say that is pretty funny. I had no idea you were so sensitive!! It is super cool though!

If something was going to get to your "soft" side - it makes sense that it would be new technology! Actually, you're pretty soft with the girls in your life.
